Access via RIPTA
Brown University is accessible from anywhere in Rhode Island via RIPTA bus, or ferry. The RIPTA website has a trip planner which makes navigation around the state extremely simple. (RIPTA provides statewide bus service).
From downtown Providence, it's only a 5 minute bus ride to the department. The trolley has frequent runs and is a convenient way to travel the city.
Bus and trolley stops are located in Kennedy Plaza. The following buses/trolley run through the Tunnel and stop at Thayer Street (which is a block away from the Computer Science Department):
- 35 Rumford/Newport Avenue Outbound
- 40 Butler/Elmgrove Outbound
- 42 Hope Street Outbound
- 49 Camp Street Outbound
- 78 Beverage Hill Outbound
- 92 Green Line Trolley - East

The fare for both the bus and trolley is $1.50.
