Surface Characterizations
•Surfaces can only curve in these three ways!
•Convex
regions usually bound a
material/object
•Concave
regions usually bound pockets of air (aka negative space)
•Saddle
regions bound nothing—instead provide transition between convex and concave (this type of surface often not acknowledged in art theory)
