Assignment 3 (Project 2: "Object Seeking") is out. We will cover the using the camera and blobfinder proxies next week in class, along with a quick camera calibration tutorial.
When we went to grade your handins for the first assignment, a few didn't quite show up correctly. Basically, there are two things you need to ensure the next time you hand in an assignment: 1) the main report is in the file "index.html" and 2) all of the links and images have the correct relative URLs. Please check this before you turn in your work. You can either run "mozilla index.html" from the directory you are handing in, or we've added it to the handin script - just enter 'y' at the prompt. If everything displays correctly for you, it will probably work for us, too. If you still have questions, please ask one of the TAs or email cs148tas.
An example project report has been posted in the Documents section. Due to our use of HTML format, there is no specific length required to these reports. However, you should be sure to cover all significant aspects of the scientific method in your report. The example provided by the Head TA is a bit long, but is certainly a good example.
Handout for Assignment 2 updated with grading information.
Skeleton code and libraries for using playerm (the Matlab interface to the Player robot server) is not available in the asgn/asgn2 directory. More on Tuesday in class.
Assignment 2 (Project 1: "Enclosure Escape") is out. We will cover the basics you need in order to carry out the assignment next Tuesday. Since the projects are done in pairs you might want to start looking for a project partner. That is, grab a classmate that looks technically competent (i.e. "geeky"), buy her/him a beer on Saturday night and convince her/him that you are simply meant to be best buddies.
In order to hand in your assignment by tomorrow's deadline, you'll need to use the CS148 handin script. Take a look at the guide called "Handin" on the "Tutorials" page, then e-mail the TAs if you still have questions.
The collaboration policy has been posted. It is required that you sign and return this policy by the due date of Assignment 1.
The first assignment "Fictional Robot Analysis" has now been posted. This assignment is due on Friday Sept 14. Keep it simple. Don't overthink the assignment.
Important: All students taking CS148 must subscribe to the course mailing list at list.cs.brown.edu. The mailing list, along with the web site, is the primary channel for course-related announcements and discussion threads.
The website is still under construction, but starting to take shape. More to come...
