Description
This course explores the principles of modern programming languages by implementing them. Examines linguistic features, especially control operators such as first-class functions, exceptions and continuations. This leads to a study of data and their types, including polymorphism, type inference and type soundness. The course conludes by examining compiler and run-time system topics such as continuation-passing style and garbage collection. Prerequisite: CSCI0160, CSCI0180 or CSCI0190. Preferred: CSCI0220, CSCI0310 and CSCI0510, or instructor’s permission.
