The .NET platform is a distributed computing programming platform built on internet standards (XML, SOAP, HTTP) that allows heterogeneous systems to communicate with any device through the use of web services. By moving from traditional client/server programming, .NET is a move to allow processing to occur wherever it makes the most sense, whether that is on a server, PC, handheld, or other smart device. This talk will cover an overview of the .NET platform and will describe the technical pieces included in the platform.
