Interests

Computer Vision

My current research interest lies in Computer Vision. I am particularly interested in model-based tracking in video-sequences, probabilistic methods for approximate inference, statistical methods and machine learning techniques for detection and recognition, and multi-view vision.

Humans are capable of understanding the world they see with seemingly no effort. Yet computers are way far from such performance. Being able to determine what objects are present in a scene in an image or even whether a person is present in the scene is still a hard problem and is a wide research topic. A more complex area of intense research that I concentrate on is human tracking. I am interested in estimating the 3D pose of the body of a person in sequences of images.

I have developed software that estimates human motion in images taken with multiple synchronized cameras.

At Brown we have our own Motion Capture Lab where we can capture motion data for evaluating the software.

Network Reliability Analysis

During my undergraduate studies at Lafayette College, I have been working together with Lorenzo Traldi on analyzing network reliability problems using symbolic logic.
