| Present | I am currently a Systems Programmer
for the Brown University Department of
Computer Science's
Technical Staff.
Simultaneously, I am pursuing a
Masters Degree in
Computer Science at Brown, researching Machine Learning for Automated
Trading of Financial Markets; and Statistical Natural Language
Processing for the Correlation of News Releases and Price Movements. |
| Education | I received my Bachelor of Science degree
from Brown University in 2002, concentrating in Computer Science and also emphasizing Business Economics. I
was awarded membership in the Sigma Xi
Scientific Honor Society, the
Microsoft
Full-Tuition National Scholarship for 2001-02, and a four-year
scholarship from Consolidated Edison. I
graduated cum laude from The
Lawrenceville School in 1998. |
| Work | In 2001, as
Program Manager
intern for Microsoft, I led a
company-wide exploratory of Location-Based Services and designed their
Location API. In 2000, I was a
Software Design
Engineer intern for Microsoft's
NetMeeting group,
where I developed the XML Help System and Text Chat interface. In 1999, I
was a Software Engineering intern for
Digital
Equipment Corporation (then
Compaq, now
Hewlett Packard) helping them port
Altavista Tunnel
VPN to Linux. In 2002, I was also Brown's student liaison to Microsoft. |
| Teaching | In the fall of 2000, I was
Head Teaching Assistant
for Prof. Pascal Van
Hentenryck in CS31,
Brown's 120-student intro class to computer architecture. In the spring of
2000, I was Head TA for Prof.
Amy Greenwald's CS141
class in Artificial Intelligence. In fall of 1999, I was a
Teaching Assistant for
Prof. Maurice Herlihy's
CS31 class. From
1996-1998, I was a Head Counselor teaching C++ to campers aged 9 to
18 at
National Computer Camps, America's first computer summer camp founded
1977. |
| Extracurricular | Since 2000, I have held various roles in the Brown University Entrepreneurship Program, including Events Director, Marketing Director, and Technology Director. For the past three years I have also been the organizer of Sex Power God and StarF*ck, well known as the best and biggest dances at Brown. I have also been an executive board member of the LGBTA, president of the Brown Investment Group, and treasurer of Technology House, creators of America's largest Tetris installation. In 1998-1999, I competed on Brown's Varsity Foil Fencing Team. I am also a member of Brown's Biotechnology Interest Group and study the Pipe Organ with University Organist, Mark Steinbach. |
