Color Effects
Many optical illusions take advantage of color in ways that are analagous to the contrast illusions in the previous section. It is recommended that you should look at the contrast section before continuing in the color effects.
Out of these three images, which two would you say are the most vibrant? Most people would indicated that the red-green and yellow-blue images seemed more vibrant that the yellow-green image. However, the shades of green in the first two images are the same. Likewise, the shades of yellow in the second two images are the same. Why should it be that some colors appear brighter when introduced against differnt colored backgrounds?
