iSynth at WWDC

6-10-09

I'm at WWDC, Apple's humongous developer conference in San Francisco. One of the coolest things here is a giant wall display showing the icons of the 20,000 most popular iPhone apps. It consists of 20 30-inch monitors, and each app's icon jumps up and down whenever somebody downloads it from the App Store. With all the intricate textures, this thing was just screaming out for Photosynth. Unfortunately, I only had my iPhone to take the pictures, so the resolution isn't the best, but the photos synthed amazingly well. Look for iSynth's icon in the lower middle part of the exhibit.

The synth has been pretty popular, with over 12,000 views after only a few days. Check out coverage by TechCrunch and Gizmodo.

Coming Soon: iSynth Version 1.1

5-6-09

Version 1.1 of iSynth has been submitted to Apple and is currently "in review". Expect to see it live on the app store any day now.

Updates include...
Substantial improvements to performance. Faster load times, even smoother graphics, all while using less battery power!
New Recently Viewed menu tracks where you've been. Favorites allow you to hang on to synths you really like for easy viewing later.
Redesigned menus and user interface for a more streamlined browsing and viewing experience.

Can you Digg it?

Since its release yesterday, iSynth has really been making the rounds on the tech blogs! It'd be great to make the front page of Digg too!

iSynth is getting noticed...

3-11-09

"iSynth (iTunes Link) is a new application that brings Microsoft’s impressive Photosynth 3D photo viewer to the iPhone. Photosynth stitches together user-submitted photos of the same subject, allowing users to ‘fly-through’ the area by clicking on each successive photo....iSynth brings much of the functionality of the original Photosynth to the iPhone, and for the most part it works well. In fact, the touch-screen interface makes the experience even more intuitive than the original..."

"Another project from Microsoft's Live Labs group has been adapted for Apple's iPhone, but this time Microsoft itself isn't responsible. Brown University student Greg Pascale created iSynth (iTunes link), a viewer for Microsoft's Photosynth 3D photo-browsing program..."

"And now the big news: iPhone and iPod Touch owners can now also enjoy synths on their devices. This is possible with the new iPhone application iSynth that was released yesterday in the iTunes App Store..."
