Hi Jesse!!!

Random thought: there are a lot of people who don't think about others/our world often enough. Do what you can to change that. See ARIL below.

Newsgroup brown.cs.vi is here!

Also, check out the Dvorak Keyboard that I use to type faster and more happily.

The first order of vi reference mugs went well and people seem to have liked the mugs enough that I am considering ordering another batch for those interested. Please email me if you are interested and I'll add you to the new list.

About me (from a CS perspective)

I use vi--currently using /usr/xpg4/bin/vi because it plugs a security hole and is pure. (my vi hacks page)
I code in C.
I script with (k)sh, awk, and sed (I will learn perl when I have learned all other tools). Okay, I have become a SPOC and they say I have to learn perl...:P
I run screen on login in almost all environments (yes, xterm -e screen is in there)
My login shell is ksh. It's command line is so useful.
Never use (t)csh for anything but typing commands with their arguments. Here's why.
In this vein, I humbly introduce my list of unix preferences. As with all things, I respect the preferences of others.

I'm a SPOC for the CS dept here...sort of a jack-of-all-trades, but I identify with the following statement:

Sysadmin's motto

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the
ungrateful. We have done so much for so long, with so little, we are
now qualified to do anything with nothing.
