Robotics

Description

Robotics research at Brown ranges from machine vision to humanoid robots and more often than not involves the use statistical machine learning techniques. Current projects include robots that learn how to navigate by exploring their environment, humanoid robots that learn how to act by observing humans and other robots, and statistical estimation techniques for recognizing complex patterns of motion including facial expressions and gestures. Much of the work focuses on the difficult problem of inferring useful features from very high-dimensional data such as video sequences and derives essential insights from cognitive science and computational neuroscience.
