• Spent 90 minutes with the two guys looking at and identifying fibers. Our question for them was what are the stream surfaces. We didn't converge on an answer, definitively. They tentatively identified one surface as the external and extreme capsules. That piece looked like it had two layers, and was reasonably consistent in section with those features.

• Pointer was awkward to use. Printouts might be easier to work with, since pointing would be much more straightforward. Having two folks in the cave is important for having them talk about it.

• Navigation was awkward. Users couldn't look underneath comfortably. Table got in the way. Tried to lower table, but brain lowered, as well, and then it was difficult to see anything without sitting on the floor.

• Want to annotate with cave-painting-like tools. Want to mark regions so that you could walk around them and talk about them. E.g., connect disconnected stuff with hand-drawn lines/tubes. Or group things together and replace with a "meta object."

• Why don't we see optic and olfactory nerves? Olfactory is larger diameter.

• Might we see a pancake at the optic chiasm?
• A book of sections showing the anisotropy metrics would be useful for saying why we can or can't see something.
• Excluding fiber tracts below a certain length will lose the cortico-cortical fibers (U-fibers).
• Get Misha and Ari in to meet with Carlo and Derek next week.

• Both guys wanted more ventricles.
• Try bracketing the lengths, tubes 5-10mm long, those 10-20mm long, those 20-40mm long.

  ** print anisotropy atlases - all three scalar values, all three directions, one section per direction, label the slice numbers.

  ** enable the brain to go up and down on a platform/table. Make the platform round and small, so it doesn't get in the way looking up.

  ** quicker way to see what's missing from thresholds like path length, etc. The brackets idea might be a good one.
