Research Project:

SAND

The SAND project explores highly-distributed query processing for large-scale peer-to-peer systems, federated enterprise databases, and wide-area monitoring systems. A key focus area is network awareness, i.e., the use of the knowledge of network characteristics such as bandwidth and inter-node latencies, in query processing. Topics include query placement, parallelized execution, and adaptivity to changing workload and network conditions.
