3D Modeling, Animation, and Design Lesson Two:

Goals for the Lesson

This project will be integrated at a point when solid modeling will be most effective. This sequence will provide the ability to visualize, manipulate and modify objects in 3D space. The final focus of the project will be to give students the ability to animate their multi component objects. The end users of this product are high school students involved in a mechanical drawing and design course, and the classes are generally heterogenously grouped. The range of ability varies between classes, but in general is representative the school's population. Nearly all of these students have had computer experience in one or more business applications or graphics paint programs. The range of expertise, however, is extreme. Many of these students have had only single platform experience and are somewhat biased in their perceptions. There are few interactive applications in the school system and the concept of "the computer as a tool" has only just gained a foot hold. This project will be a first in 3D modeling and interactive graphics for all these students. This project is designed to allow personal choice of design components, integration, and animation. Other than the introductory frames and projects the students will be free to generate designs from their own creativity and imagination.
