Network Topology
The department provides two logical networks, one for Tstaff managed ("trusted") machines and another for non-Tstaff ("self-managed") machines. Machines are placed onto one of these two logical networks based upon this Network Port Policy.Gaining Access to the "Self-Managed" Network
If you desire access to the departments "self-managed" network and your machine fits the criteria outlined in the Network Port Policy, then you need to send an email to problem@cs.brown.edu with the following information:
- Room Number
- Walljack Number (e.g. 575A-D2)
- Machine Name (we'll use your login unless you have a strong preference otherwise)
- Ethernet (MAC) Address
If you are running on a Windows based machine, we have written a CS Wiki page to aid users who need help determining your ethernet (MAC) address
