Crush Linux Release

The Summer, 2005 release is from Debian "Sarge." Crush was frozen on Monday, May 16th, 2005.
The last freeze was codenamed "Nigel" and was frozen on Thursday, January 13th, 2005. It, too, was a snapshot of "Sarge."
The exact number of packages installed on our desktop machines varies over time, but at the time of this upgrade Nigel had 1831 and Crush had 1798. 109 packages were removed (though some were replaced by new packages with different names) and 76 new packages were added, for a net decrease of 33 packages.
The tstaff has compiled a complete inventory of the 1263 packages added, removed or upgraded in the transition from Nigel to Crush:

Nigel to Crush Upgrade Highlights
Here are some of the more notable changes that accompany this upgrade:- AbiWord
- Version 2.2.7 replaces 2.0.14, bringing us up to the latest version of this free cross-platform word processor.
- GNU Compiler Suite
- Version 3.4 is now available (along with selected older versions). Version 3.3 is still the default. Version 3.2 is gone.
- The Gimp
- Version 2.2.6 is now installed, replacing the 2.0 version.
- Gnustep
- Gone. We don't think anyone is using this. Let us know if you are.
- GOCR
- Gnu OCR (optical character recognition). Reads text from your images.
- Mono
- We've pulled in mono, the open source implementation of .NET, which includes a C# compiler.
- Nvidia drivers
- The proprietary nvidia drivers we use go from 6629 to 7174.
- Open Clip Art
- The open clip art library is now installed on every machine. See openclipart.org for more information. (The local files are in /usr/share/openclipart).
- Scribus
- A free alternative to QuarkExpress or InDesign, Scribus is page design software.
Kernel Upgrade
