Nigel Linux Release

The Semester II, 2004-2005 release is from Debian "Sarge." Nigel was frozen on Thursday, January 13th, 2005.
The last freeze was codenamed "Coral" and was frozen on Wednesday, August 25th, 2004. It, too, was a snapshot of "Sarge."
The exact number of packages installed on our desktop machines varies over time, but at the time of this upgrade Coral had 1717 and Nigel had 1724. 81 packages were removed (though some were replaced by new packages with different names) and 88 new packages were added, for a net increase of 7 packages.
The tstaff has compiled a complete inventory of the 1251 packages added, removed or upgraded in the transition from Coral to Nigel:

Coral to Nigel Upgrade Highlights
Here are some of the more notable changes that accompany this upgrade:- Emacs20
- Emacs20 is dead, long live emacs21!
- Evolution
- Evolution moves up from version 1.4.6 to 2.0.3.
- Gnu Compilers
- The default gnu compiler suite moves from 3.3.4 to 3.3.5.
- Gimp
- Gimp 2.0 is now available!
- Gnome
- Gnome moves up a rev from 2.6 to 2.8.
- Gnustep
- Gnustep is gone.
- KDE
- KDE moves up a rev from 3.2 to 3.3.
- Firefox
- Mozilla Firefox goes from 0.9.3 to 1.0.
- Nvidia drivers
- The proprietary nvidia drivers we use go from 5336 to 6629.
Kernel Upgrade: 2.6.10
