Supported Operating Systems

Tstaff supports workstations running Linux and Windows XP. Questions or problems regarding supported OSs should be sent to "problem@cs.brown.edu".

Linux

The distribution of Linux that is supported on CS workstations is Debian.

The current version of Debian running on our systems is a local snapshot chosen to balance between stability and newness. This local "release" is frozen three times a year: at the start of each semester and at the start of the Summer.

The version of Windows that is supported on CS workstations is Windows XP.

Currently, Windows XP is at Service Pack 2

VMWare: Windows from Linux
