Bio & Interests

I'm a close-to-graduate PhD student in the Data Management Research Group at Brown advised by Stan Zdonik. My primary research interests are in 1) analytics on large data, and 2) transaction processing using modern hardware.

My past work, CORADD, detects and exploits correlations to design fast and compact analytic databases.
My current work, Las Vegas, speeds-up Hadoop with HDFS replicas that are differently sorted and partitioned.
I am also collaborating with Hewlett-Packard Laboratories to develop a new transactional processing engine exploiting modern hardware.

I'm originally from Yokohama, Japan. Before coming to Brown, I earned B. Eng. at the University of Tokyo and then worked as a software engineer for a few years.
