Bio & Interests

I'm a PhD candidate in the data management research group at Brown advised by Stan Zdonik. My research area is Automatic Database Designing. My current project is CORADD which detects and exploits correlations to design fast and compact databases. I have also started working on SciDB, the science-oriented DBMS.

I'm originally from Yokohama, Japan. I earned BEng at the University of Tokyo and then worked as a software engineer for a few years. Though working as a programmer was fun to me, I love speed (on computer and on bike) and Database is an exciting subject to speed up, so I started working on Database research.
